Smocked Christmas

Place lining pieces place right sides together to stocking and sewn across the tops only. Make sure your pleated piece is neater than shown, all edges should line up before sewing.

Open both pieces up and lay the back onto the front piece with right sides together. Sew around the entire stocking from one x to the other x, leaving a 1 1/2" opening to turn right sides out. Turn right side out and whip the opening in the lining closed.

Smock a cable on the first row.

Then on the 1st half space row to the second smock a 1 step 1/2 space trellis.

Then on the 2nd half space row to the third smock repeat a 1 step 1/2 space trellis.

Make a twisted cord loop and attach to stocking to hang on your tree.

This takes approximately a yard of string (what ever kind you want to used) , metallic floss, six stranded floss, pearl cotton #8.Flod in half and with the ends in one hand and the loop in the other twist the looped end until string kinks up on itself big time!  Always hold the string out taunt until you are ready for the next step.

While holding this string in both hands put the middle around the spindle of the bobbin winder and ease up on the string. Watch the string twist together to make a beautiful cord!  Tie both ends together in a tight knot and trim, attach and sew to your stocking.

These make great teachers gifts, I stuffed them with a treat depending on the teacher.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!!
