Loren Marie's Peppermint Candy Bishop

This bishop dress is smocked using the Lauren Marie Smocking Plate from PBJK. A few rows have been deleted and flowerettes have been added. Smocked with #8 Perle cotton in colors red and white and trimmed with the new red french trim. We all thought it looked like a piece of peppermint candy!

Kits are available for just the supplies or cut out and pleated.

"Go Tigers" Outfit!

The top is made from "Lauren" from Bonnie Blue and the pants are "Abbie" from Children's Corner.

The top we shortened to make the shirt length and the pants we added 1 1/2" inches and a casing for the elastic.

The machine embroidered Appliqué  is from the Ellie and friends C.D.

Orange and white whipped stitched piping trims the collar and sleeves.

Orange medium rick rack trims the pants.

"Roll Tide" Outfit!

This outfit is made with the "Paulie" pattern from Children's Corner with Crimson Gingham Check and white whipped stitched piping.

The appliqué is from Ellie and Friends CD from Sew Many Designs. What made this appliqué so cute was the grey velveteen that made ellie so cute and soft! Expressive software was used to add the letters that spells out BAMA!

The two tone effect for the buttons was made with the large white button backs with the 3/4" maroon plastic button in the center.

"Berry Picking"

The blouse made with the berry picking fabric and the Children's Corner "Lettie" Pattern.

The Jumper is made with hot pink Checked Chenille and the Children's Corner " "Hank and Helen" Pattern.

The Hat is "Madeline" another Children's Corner Pattern.

The berries are 7 pompoms gathered up into a berry bunch and stitched to secure. I used 4 1/2" of grass green Jumbo rick rack, folded the ends to the middle and then secured them to the berry bunch.

 HO-HO Santa Pockets!!

Janis Shelton's Santa Pockets have been seen by all!! And alas she has even topped this Santa with a new one with a beard!!  Check out her new paper piecing book "Christmas is Coming"

The pattern is Frannie by Children's Corner. The fabric is that wonderful 100% cotton feather wale corduroy, lined in a pima Christmas plaid. We piped the neck and the arm holes with the red & white whipped piping.

Frosty is the Man!!

Frosty is a paper pieced pattern also by Janis Shelton. The Santa pocket and frosty come in a  pattern package together. This outfit we put a royal blue turtle neck under our white Frannie top made of fine wale pique`.( when it finally got cool)

The pants are made from the "Abbie" pattern from Children's Corner. To make the pants less full for a straight leg look we just took our yard stick and drew a line straight line down the side.

The bias was easy with the 3/8" clover bias maker. To put the bias on we applied steam seam II and placed it perfectly around the bottom of the dress and then ironed. This made it so easy to sew the bias down because we didn't have to jump any pins and there was no excess anywhere!!

Family Stockings!!

These are again Janis Shelton's patterns, The trees can be found in a back issue of Creative Needle Magazine or in her new book "Christmas is Coming"

In her new book is also the paper pieced Christmas stockings!

Well, I finally finished this beautiful little dress on the plane to California! ( the hand work)

This dress is yet another from A.S.A.E.

I used Madeira Silk floss for smocking and 2mm ecru pearls

The fabric for the dress is white Swiss Voile. The slip is made of pima Swiss batiste.

I'm always amazed when I add up the cost of the materials. This dress would set you back $95.00 just for the materials. This is a size 18 months.

I will post the issue soon!

(2)1" pearl shank buttons

Let's play Snowman Holiday Fabric

The bias trim on the jacket and pockets was cut at 3" on the bias. Then ironed in half to mark the middle. Once the middle is found you iron each edge to the crease, this gives you a perfect piece of double fold bias. You could use a bias maker if you had one that big.
